How to Cancel Your Account
This guide explains how to deactivate your LegalCase account and what happens to your data.
What Happens When You Cancel
- Immediate: Your account is deactivated. You're signed out and can no longer access your cases, timeline, or documents.
- Billing: Any active subscription is canceled. You won't be charged after the end of your current billing period.
- 30-day grace period: Your data is retained for 30 days. During this time, you can reactivate your account by subscribing to a plan again. All your data will be restored.
- After 30 days: Your data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
How to Deactivate
- Sign in to LegalCase.
- Go to Profile (or Account).
- Lawyers: Click your profile in the sidebar.
- Clients: Go to your profile page.
- Scroll to the Account or Danger zone section.
- Click Deactivate account (or Delete account).
- Read the warning. You'll be asked to confirm:
- Your account will be deactivated immediately.
- Billing stops at the end of your current period.
- Data is permanently deleted after 30 days.
- Confirm to proceed. You'll be signed out and redirected to the account status page.
During the 30-Day Grace Period
- You'll see a page showing your scheduled deletion date.
- To reactivate: Subscribe to a plan again (Lawyer or Client). Go through the normal checkout flow. Once payment succeeds, your account and all data are restored.
- You cannot sign in or access your data until you reactivate.
After Permanent Deletion
All personal information, case data, uploaded files, and timeline events are permanently removed. This cannot be undone. You would need to create a new account and start over.
